WELCOME TO THE

Glen Ridge Historical Society

"The Old Mill in the Glen" was painted for the Glen Ridge post office in 1938 by the artist and former Glen Ridge resident, James Chapin. It shows the water wheel from the former Moffett's brass rolling mill.

JOIN US! On a Walking Tour of Douglas Road on Saturday, May 31, 2025, 1:00 p.m.

We’re planning a walking tour of Douglas Road on Saturday, May 31, 2025 and hope you’ll join us.

The tour will identify various architectural styles, share stories about former residents, and show lots of early photographs by local realtor, Nathan Russell. And, of course, we’ll tell you how the street got its name.

We’ll meet at the corner of Washington Street and Douglas Road at 1:00 p.m. and walk to Woodland Avenue. The tour will last about 90 minutes. Refreshments will follow. The rain date is June 1.

The Glen Ridge Historical Society will be marching in the Glen Ridge Memorial Day Parade! All members are welcome to walk with us.

The parade is organized by the Glen Ridge Kiwanis Club. Participants will assemble at the corner of Baldwin and Sherman Avenue at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 26, 2025. The parade proceeds south on Ridgewood Avenue to the Memorial in front of the Ridgewood Avenue School, where the traditional service of remembrance will be held. In the event of rain, the service will be held in the school auditorium. After the service, everyone is invited to the train station for the annual town picnic.
