History, Houses & a Few Famous Names! 2026 Walking Tour

Come explore Glen Ridge on Saturday, October 17, with a walking tour of “The Four W’s”—Washington Street, Wells Court, Washington Place, and Winsor Place.

Starting at 1:30 p.m. at the southeast corner of Ridgewood Avenue and Washington Street, our docents will lead the way, sharing stories about the former homes of some fascinating residents, including hymnwriter William Bradbury, Glen Ridge football coach Rawly Brown, screen actor Tom Cruise, bacteriologist George Earp-Thomas, and graphic designer Bill Wood. We’ll even make a quick sidestep into Bloomfield to visit the former home of Colonel Thomas Cadmus, who welcomed General George Washington on July 4, 1778, following the Battle of Monmouth.

History, architecture, famous names, and a good walk through town, what better way to spend a Saturday afternoon?

And because every good tour deserves a happy ending, we’ll wrap up with refreshments at 78 Winsor Place.
