We hope you are enjoying the snowy winter of 2021. Here are a few photos from Glen Ridge winters past. The first is a snowy day circa 1920 showing 96 Ridgewood Avenue (built circa 1865). The house was ‘Colonialized’ in the 1950s. A factory that manufactured chicle for chewing gum was behind the house. The second photo shows the toboggan run behind the Glen Ridge Country Club in the 1930s. The run took sledders all the way down to Broad Street. The third photo shows a horse drawn sleigh passing 325 Ridgewood Avenue, owned by Edward Mitchell, circa 1890. The last photo shows 34 Highland Avenue in the snow circa 1890s.
